KAITLYN HYDE

Head Trainer and Instructor

Hi I'm Kaitlyn and I founded Kommon Sense Horse Training in 2016. I started Kommon Sense to be dedicated to teaching you and your horse how to make your time in and out of the saddle enjoyable and safe. I was an 11 year 4-H member and I rode and competed on Miami University's huntseat equestrian team. I've been working with problem horses and sale horses for 4 years and had an active lesson and show program for the last 2 years. I am a member of ILHA, AQHA, APHA, and USHJA.

As a teacher and coach, I am very hands on throughout the entire learning process. One of my favorite things to do is introduce both students and horses to the show world and how rewarding it can be. My goal is to create a team that is supportive and makes everything fun no matter what they are doing

I currently compete in dressage, ranch riding, and my newest love, liberty! Dressage was not my first choice, Western riding is my true love, but dressage has held the answers for many of the issues I encountered. My favorite challenges are to work with those who suffer from anxiety when riding or showing as well as to help horses understand how to work with their 2-legged counterparts

My common sense training system is full of fun, practical techniques that will set you and your horse up for success no matter the experience level. I believe that using common sense beliefs about how horses think and behave naturally, gives us the extra edge when it comes to having them WANT to listen and become partners with us. When training and teaching my students, I focus on the horse understanding what is being asked of him. I have worked with horses from all walks of life from abused to spoiled rotten, from un-broke to deadhead, learning along the way that every horse is different, there is no " one way". I  recognized this and build Kommon Sense on all the foundation of knowledge I have acquired about different methods of training and I use that to find the one that best fits the horse and owner.

Recently my barn has shifted to being more all-natural as a part of our training methods and helping the horses that come into my barn. Using Essential Oils and natural supplements for mental and physical issues which has shown benefits in both my personal and client horses. I work closely with our staff naturopath, Holistic Chiropractor, and excellent farrier to help rehab our incoming projects and maintain our amazing lesson ponies. Some of the methods used include cold laser therapy, acupressure, aromatherapy, and energy work.

My goals is to help and care for every horse and human that comes my way. Check out lessons and training and come have fun learning with me!

Sharing your home with an animal can be a dream or a nightmare. Making sure your animal is well trained will give both of you more time to enjoy each other’s company. My modern training system is full of fun techniques that will give you and your pet a happier life together.

Kommon Sense Horse Training was founded in 2000, and has developed a very special reputation with my customers and their owners in Brookville. I believe that being firm and having a clear set of boundaries is one thing, but being fierce is just not necessary. I don’t believe in choke collars, or that using a leash is the only way to teach an animal discipline. Dogs, and many other animals, are social animals, who enjoy love and family life. Let’s get them out of the dog house, give them more positive re-enforcement, and turn them into another family member.
